Easy swaps to have a toxin-free laundry room
One of the most important toxin-free swaps you can make in your home and laundry room is getting rid of synthetic fragrance. Fragrance can include a wide variety of toxic ingredients and chemicals. Your skin is your largest organ so anything that you put on your body will go directly into your bloodstream. Plant-based aroma is very different from the man-made fragrance that is used today and directly linked to many adverse reactions and are known endocrine disruptors.
Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets are dangerous and it’s time to ditch them for a toxin-free option! They are loaded with toxic chemicals and fragrance that are staying on your clothes, getting on your body, and the vent emissions are also causing a toxic problem in the air!
Dryer Balls
Wool dryer balls are a great alternative to dryer sheets. They also cut down on drying time! Dryer balls are great at preventing static cling in the dryer! The wool balls need room to circulate and bounce around freely and it will help with wrinkling! They are also eco-friendly and sustainable so you can use them for a long time without replacing. Most importantly they are fragrance free and you can add your own natural aroma with a certified pure and trusted essential oil like Peppermint, Lavender, or my personal favorite; Citrus Bliss!
Doterra dawn humidifier & Diffuser is great to combat static during the cold months!
Adding Air-X essential oil is my favorite!
Top Laundry room essential oils
the best part of an all-natural laundry room is the refreshing aroma of essential oils
Tea Tree
Tea Tree is a must in the laundry room for cleaning the washing machine. Mold, mildew, and soap scum are all breeding grounds for the washing machine. Tea Tree makes a great all-purpose natural cleaner.
Purify
When you need to get rid of odors naturally Purify is your oil! It’s why you will find it in all toxin-free laundry rooms! It’s known for its cleansing and purifying properties. It will eliminate odors with its herbal aroma and purify the air without any chemicals! I use Purify in every load of stinky laundry and in my shoe spray that sits in the mud room.
Citrus Essential oils
Citrus oils are a great option to rid your laundry room of conventional toxic cleaners. Two of my favorite citrus essential oils to use as a natural cleaner are Lemon and Grapefruit. Limonene and B-pinene compounds found in citrus oils make them a powerful natural cleaning tool. Citrus oils are great for getting rid of harmful pathogens around your home.

Conventional laundry soap is loaded with dyes, fragrance, and chemicals. It’s easy to make your own and I did for years with castile soap, washing soda, baking soda, and essential oils. Every bottle of On Guard Laundry detergent contains a 10 mL bottle of On Guard essential oil. It also doesn’t contain any synthetic fragrances, toxins, or dyes. You can also do up to 64 loads of laundry too!
